I just got back from the cinema where I watched Boon-lip (Sam) Quah’s 2022 remake of “A Place Called Silence”… I couldn’t help but wonder why the same film was remade just two years later.
The script was overly complicated and lacked elegance, making it quite confusing in parts

However, the performances by Chuan-jun Wang, Janine Chun-Ning Chang, and Francis Ng were very good, and the editing was impeccable, so I left with a positive overall impression. Despite being entertaining and full of blood and gore, viewership began to wane after a few weeks as they moved on to the newer comedies released in Chinese cinemas.
