After years apart, the star-crossed lovers discover that each path they take brings them back together

Local rebellious teenager Clotaire falls in love with his schoolmate Jackie, but gang violence leads him down a darker and more destructive path. Malik Frikah, who plays 17-year-old Clotaire in the film, became a world breakdancing champion at the age of 10. One of the characters wears a Rolex Daytona Ceramic watch from the 1990s, but the watch did not appear until 2016.

I was very excited to watch this film directed by Gilles Lellouch, starring Adele Exarchopoulos and Francois Civil, which I really enjoyed. All the ingredients are there for a French Bockbuster, but they fail. The first part is too long to tell the story of their young lives and love.

Because I think that, although too long, it was a good release

After a while, we wonder if we didn’t go to the wrong theater. We also start to feel frustrated that we haven’t seen Adele and Francois after an hour. If that long first part was intentional, the film should have been released in 2 versions.

As for the ending, it was too easy

The second part of their adult life is in many ways not credible and not exciting. The adaptation of the script seemed rather weak to me. I also didn’t feel any connection to the romance after the reunion.

It’s a shame because I feel like we missed the opportunity to make a great film

Kudos to Mallory Wanecque as Jackie and Malik Frikah as Clotaire Young, who gave great performances.
