The acting is very good

The film is very long and quite uneven between the first part, when the characters are teenagers, and the second part, ten years later.

The young actors are fresh and genuine

Adele and François are top notch. Alain Chabat is a great teddy bear and as always you want to smack Benoit Poolvoorde. The background music really sets the tone for the 80s in a small French industrial town.

I finished the film with a smile on my face

Mostly British and American songs, but so grounded in the era. It’s not the best film of the year, but it’s a beautiful, crazy and passionate love story. Despite its unevenness, you follow Clotaire and Jackie all the way through.
